Speaker 1:

Welcome to today's program. The beauty of grace and I'm pastor Pete Norris of harvest fellowship, church, Goldsboro, North Carolina. We're going to talk about a scripture today that has caused a lot of strife for people. A lot of confusion, people been to completely taken out of context and has been quoted and misquoted and, and done all the things. And we love this one scripture that we've made almost a religion out of. And we're going to read in first John chapter one verses eight through 10. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves. And the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and he's just to forgive us, our sins and the, from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar. And the in his word is not in us. Now I want to use this scripture because I want to, I want to talk on the scripture just a little bit. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. Now, the word is seeing here is singular is talking about the sea nature. It is talking about what you and I send is talking about the flesh. We're talking about what the flesh does. We deceive ourselves and the truth is not his, but here's a scripture in verse nine that everybody loves and weave it. He was talking to the agnostics here in first, John chapter one and the early part of it. He was talking to agnostics. The one that was mixing grace and mixing the law. They were mixing grace and putting a little bit of law, putting a little bit of law. I put a little bit of grace and they were deceiving, but he says, if we confess our sins, he is faithful. And just to forgive us and to cleanse the small in Rochester. Now I'm absolutely on board with that. I absolutely believe that if we confess our CNC is fateful to adjust, but the word of confess here is whole Malaga and homo means the same. And logos means the word. In other words, you need to say the same thing he said about your sins. They're gone. They're done away with, if we say, we've not seen, we make him a liar and his word is not in us. Now, John said in John, one 29, the next day, John saw Jesus coming toward him. And he said, behold, the lamb of God who takes away the sin, not sins, the singular of the world. He takes away the sin nature of the world. Now look at first John chapter three, verse five. And you know that he was manifested to do what to take away our sins. And in him, there is no sin. So where are you? And I were in him. So in him, there is no sin. And now this is what brings a lot of people, striving, confusion. And, and it brings a whole lot of people, our heartache, and we take it out of text. And when I say this thing, people don't listen to me out and they get upset with me and say, well, are you saying that you don't see him? Well, I'm just going to quote the word to you. Let's see what the word says. Now in verse six of first, John chapter three, verse six, whoever abides in him does not seeing now immediately desktop. That's not talking about smoking, drinking, doing drugs. That's talking about having a sin nature. You and I do not have a sin nature because we've taken on his divine nature. We do not have a sin nature. Anna, Anna divine nature. You'd be a schizophrenia. That is not what you have. You'd be dead. You'd have evil in you and goodness in you. Your spirit is either one or the other. And the Bible says, whoever sins, as neither seen him or known him little children, let no one deceive. He practiced. Rashes is righteous just as he is Rogers. He who sins is of the devil for the devil has seen from the beginning for the purpose of son of God was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil and they don't want to destroy. There is the Greek word means Lua may still loosen us from the works of the devil. Whoever has been born. The word of God does not sin for his seed remains in him. And he cannot sin because he's been born again. Now, this does not mean that he don't smoke, drink and do drugs. And when we, when I use that text, I want you to realize I'm talking about seeing in the, in the, in the, in the, a grammar of a verb, an action word. This is not a verb. This is a noun. He's talking about a person place things. So he's talking about the sin nature here. He, that is born of God, does not have a sin nature. It does not mean he doesn't smoke drink and do drugs. He does not have a sin nature. Same thing you find in Romans chapter six for his seed remains in him. Now, according to first, John, I mean, first Peter chapter one, verse 23, three, you and I have been born again by the word of God, because his seed remains in us. And the Bible says, because his seed remains in him. He can't not sin because he's been born of God. So if you've been born to the gods, you do not have a C in nature that does not mean you may not smoke, drink and do drugs. That just means you don't have a sin nature anymore. That's why when you do those things, smoking and all those things that, that, that you don't want to do, it's not the Holy spirit convicting you. It's your spirit and letting you know that's not who you are anymore, because you're a spirit. Now, I want you to ask yourself a question, how many of you ever been to a funeral? And you get to the funeral and there's a body laying there. And everybody goes by and looks at that body. You can say whatever you want to that body, it does not respond. Now, the spirit of that man is swear. The Bible says immediately to be absent from the body. According to Paul also be present with the Lord. Now we know we're always present with the Lord, but there's a separation of that spirit being in the presence of God. And so the little children, that's a perennial term, meaning not a legal term. So we see here that he's talking to a, as, as a parent to me and you to let us know that we've been freed from the law of sin and death, that you and I have been separated and set apart. And because of that, you and I now are no longer centers. You hear people say, well, I'm just a sinner saved by grace. Well, I, you know, I got a, I got a different with you because I don't believe that I'm a sinner saved by grace. I think I'm a new creation. And I think I've been born again and old things are passed away and behold, all things have become new. I can't be a sinner if I'm a new creation, cause new creation, everybody's born to God 10, not and does not see it. And so I want to hear people say, they'll say, well, he don't practice singing. They don't practice smoking, drinking, doing drugs, nobody practices smoking, drinking, doing drugs. And you said, well, people say, well, pastor, all you're doing is giving people just license to sin. Well, you know, I want to, I want to clear that up. How many people do you think if they knew they could do anything, we just go out and do it. If they really had an experience with the Holy spirit, see, I don't believe so. I believe people are going back to see him because they're living in such condemnation based on their performance and not based on upon MAs God's marvelous, grace. And if we can ever allow ourselves to be justified and realize that we've been declared righteous about God, and it's not our acts that make us Rochester or make us unrighteous. If, if I could, if I can do nothing to make me righteous, then I could do nothing to make me unrighteous. So I want you to understand that second Corinthians five 21, him who knew no sin became sin that you and I might become the righteousness of God. And what a wonderful revelation that is. That's the beauty of grace.
